Instant XML validation
You got a bunch of XML instance files and quickly want to know if they are valid or not?
You changed the schema or DTD and want to check if several XML instances are still valid? The instant XML
validation feature of File Commander PRO can do this for you!
Instant XML validation is accessible via the Explorer Tab of the Plugin. Select the files you want to validate and
use either the context menu or the keyboard shortcuts to start.
- Ctrl+Shift+A: AltovaXML will be used to validate the files.
- Ctrl+Shift+X: Xerces-C will be used to validate the files.
Please note that you need to have AltovaXML installed and registered if you want to use the
free XML tool from Altova to do the instant XML validation. Take a look here
to learn how to register the AltovaXML component.
The "Valid" column on the Explorer tab shows the validation status of the files. To tell quickly if a file is valid or
not the following symbols are used:
| n/a |
As long as no validation was performed for the file n/a appears. |
 |
The file is valid. |
 |
The file is invalid. If you move the mouse pointer over the symbol the first 5 validation errors are displayed. |
 |
Exclamation. If you move the mouse pointer over the symbol you get additional information. |
| |
No symbol appears if the file can't be validated. |
|
File Commander PRO gives you quick access to the errors reported by AltovaXML or Xerces-C if you move the
mouse pointer over the invalid or exclamation icon:

 |
Using the buttons related to the validation status in the filter area on the Explorer tab the list of
files can be controlled.
|
By default all types are enabled and the buttons are colorized:

If you press the green button which represents the valid files it will turn to grey and all valid files
will be removed from the files list:
